Stars edge John Brown 1-0

OCU picks up SAC win, moves to 5-3 overall

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University topped John Brown (Ark.) 1-0 Wednesday in its Sooner Athletic Conference opener at Stars Field.
The Stars, ranked No. 24 in NAIA women's soccer, got the only goal of the match from senior Meghan McMahon, of Oklahoma City, in the 72nd minute and picked up the win to improve to 5-3 on the season.
After the two sides played a scoreless first half, OCU took the lead late in the second half when Allie Glazner's cross found McMahon who scored her eighth goal of the season to give the Stars the 1-0 victory.
OCU outshot John Brown 17-7 and put eight shots on goal in the match.
Senior goalkeepers Ashley Bechtold and Alissa Reed split time in goal. Reed got the start and made one save while Bechtold played the second half and made one save.
OCU will return to action against Wayland Baptist (Texas) at 1 p.m. Sunday in Plainview, Texas.
