OCU stuns John Brown 2-1 in overtime

Vaz's goal provides Stars SAC win

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University edged John Brown (Ark.) 2-1 in overtime Wednesday in its Sooner Athletic Conference opener at Stars Field.
Ruy Vaz, a junior from Sao Paulo, Brazil, notched the game-winning goal for the Stars, now 4-3 on the season, in the 100th minute when he took a pass from Daniel Yeom and scored his fifth goal of the season.
Adam Black put OCU on top in the 11th minute when he found the back of the net for the fifth time this season and gave the Stars a 1-0 advantage.
John Brown evened the score in the 77th minute when Martin Gonzalez scored from the left wing and sent the match to overtime.
In the overtime, OCU broke the tie when Vaz scored with four seconds remaining in the first overtime period and gave the Stars the 2-1 victory.
Senior goalkeeper Joe Shulberg played all 100 minutes in goal and made four saves.
OCU will return to action against Wayland Baptist (Texas) at 1 p.m. Sunday in Plainview, Texas.
