Stars edge Southern Nazarene 2-1

Black scores twice, Stars move to 6-4-2

Adam Black scored his sixth and seventh goals of the season against Southern Nazarene.

BETHANY, Okla. – Oklahoma City University came from behind and topped Southern Nazarene 2-1 Saturday at Wanda Rhodes Soccer Complex.
The Stars, now 6-4-2 on the season, fell behind in the eighth minute of the match but got a pair of second-half goals from Adam Black to surge ahead and earn the 2-1 victory.
The Crimson Storm took a 1-0 lead when Blake Rodgers took a pass from Mario Caballeros and scored in the eighth minute.
Black evened the match at 1-1 in the 4th minute when he got a ball from Ethan Berney and headed it past Southern Nazarene goalkeeper Tyler Wythe to score his sixth goal of the season.
In the 62nd minute, Black notched the game-winning goal when he scored on a shot from 25 yards out to give the Stars the 2-1 victory.
Senior goalkeeper Jalen Howard played all 90 minutes in goal for the Stars and made three saves.
OCU will return to Sooner Athletic Conference play against Oklahoma Baptist at 7 p.m. Oct. 22 at OBU Soccer Complex in Shawnee, Okla.
