Stars pound Our Lady of the Lake 6-1

Meghan McMahon tallied a hat trick to help OCU stay unbeaten

Meghan McMahon posted a hat trick against Our Lady of the Lake Sunday.

SAN ANTONIO – Oklahoma City University pounded Our Lady of the Lake (Texas) 6-1 Sunday at OLLU Soccer Field.
The Stars, ranked No. 5 in NAIA women's soccer, got a hat trick from junior Meghan McMahon, of Oklahoma City, and improved to 7-0 on the season.
McMahon got OCU on the scoreboard in the 13th minute when she took a pass from senior Sheridan Horner and scored to make the score 1-0.
Freshman Allison Worsham beat Saints' goalkeeper Alyssa Mora in the 15th minute to put the Stars on top 2-0.
Our Lady of Lake cut the OCU lead to 2-1 in the 18th minute when Megan Jeffries took a penalty kick and beat junior goalkeeper Ashley Bechtold.
OCU earned a penalty kick of its own in the 63rd minute. Worsham took advantage and scored her second goal of the match to push the Stars' lead to 3-1.
Horner gave OCU a 4-1 lead in the 65th minute when she beat Mora for her fourth goal of the season.
McMahon netted her second goal of the match in the 70th minute to stretch the OCU lead to 5-1.
In the 84th minute, McMahon put the match out of reach when she took a pass from junior Courtney Worsham and scored to give OCU the 6-1 victory.
Bechtold and fellow junior goalkeeper Alissa Reed split time between the posts. Bechtold got the start and made three saves. Reed turned in a scoreless second half.
The Stars will return to action against Rogers State in their Sooner Athletic Conference opener at 2 p.m. Friday at Soldier Field in Claremore, Okla.
