Stars outlast Houston-Victoria 1-0

Allison Worsham scored in overtime to help the Stars stay unbeaten

VICTORIA, Texas – Oklahoma City University prevailed 1-0 over upset-minded Houston-Victoria (Texas) in overtime Friday at the Cage.
The Stars, ranked No. 5 in NAIA women's soccer, got a clutch overtime goal from freshman Allison Worsham, of Edmond, Okla., to stay unbeaten and move to 6-0 on the season.
Juniors Margaret Lee and Meghan McMahon put shots on goal in the first half, but Houston-Victoria goalkeeper Jennifer Sanchez saved all three attempts to keep the match scoreless at halftime.
Junior goalkeeper Ashley Bechtold made a pair of saves in the second half to keep the Jaguars off the scoreboard.
In the 61st minute, senior Sheridan Horner had two shots saved by Sanchez. Sanchez saved another shot from Horner in the 87th minute to send the match to overtime.
Lee had two more shots on goal turned away by Sanchez in the 93rd and 95th minutes of the match.
In the 98th minute, senior Brenna Skillern took a free kick from the right side of the field and found Worsham who netted her eighth goal of the season and gave the OCU the 1-0 victory.
Bechtold made two saves in 98 minutes of action. The Stars outshot Houston-Victoria 31-2 on the match.
OCU will return to action against Our Lady of the Lake (Texas) at noon Sunday in San Antonio.
