Stars breeze past Texas-Brownsville 4-0

Meghan McMahon scored a hat trick to lift OCU over the Scorpions

Meghan McMahon scored three goals to push OCU past Texas-Brownsville.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University pounded No. 21 Texas-Brownsville 4-0 at Stars Field Friday.
The Stars, ranked No. 11 in NAIA women's soccer, got three goals from junior Meghan McMahon, of Oklahoma City, to blow past the Scorpions and move to 2-0 on the young season.
OCU jumped on top in the 34th minute when senior Rachael O'Brien's cross found McMahon, who found the back of the net to make the score 1-0.
McMahon struck again two minutes later when she beat Texas-Brownsville goalkeeper Amanda Fulton to give the Stars a 2-0 lead in the first half.
OCU continued to score in the second half. In the 55th minute, freshman Allison Worsham took a long pass from senior Brenna Skillern and beat Fulton to give the Stars' a 3-0 advantage.
McMahon finished off her hat trick in the 56th minute. The junior forward took a cross from Worsham and scored her third goal of the season to cement OCU's 4-0 victory.
Junior Ashley Bechtold got the start in goal and made five saves in 90 minutes en route to picking up her first shutout of the season.
OCU will return to action against MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.) in the John Brown Classic at 2 p.m. on Sept. 14 in Siloam Springs, Ark.
