Stars draw 1-1 with Texas-Brownsville

OCU moves to 0-0-2 after picking up its second straight draw

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University played to a 1-1 draw with Texas-Brownsville Friday at Stars Field.
The Stars got a match-tying goal from junior Adam Black, but couldn't put the Scorpions away in double overtime. OCU moves 0-0-2 on the young season.
Senior midfielder Ryan Hunter had his shot blocked in the 29th minute to keep the score level at 0-0.
Texas-Brownsville got on the scoreboard in the 32nd minute when Ricardo Diegues beat junior goalkeeper Joe Shulberg to make the score 1-0.
Sophomore Kieran McLachlan had his shot saved by Ben Perez in the 33rd minute to keep the score at 1-0 in favor of Texas-Brownsville.
In the 54th minute Hunter found Black with a cross, and Black scored his first goal of the season to tie the match at 1-1.
The Stars took seven shots in the second half, but couldn't take the lead and the match went to overtime.
In the second overtime period, Black hit the crossbar with one shot and had another saved by Perez and the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
Shulberg made four saves in 110 minutes of work.
The Stars will return to action against Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) at 2 p.m. Sunday at Stars Field.
