OCU pops Simon Fraser 64-55 for NAIA Division I women's basketball crown

OCU's 2000 NAIA Division I women's basketball champion
JACKSON, Tenn. – Oklahoma City University defeated Simon Fraser (British Columbia) 64-55 to capture the Stars' second consecutive NAIA Division I women's basketball championship Tuesday, March 21, 2000 at Oman Arena.
Mary Ogunsola had 15 points and seven rebounds for OCU (33-3). Patty Cantella added 11 points and six steals.
Jennifer Mills and Becky Hoskins hit back-to-back jump shots to pro­vide the turning point. OCU led 48-45 with nearly five minutes left.
Simon Fraser went scoreless for 4:23, hitting only three field goals the last 6:11. OCU outscored Simon Fraser 18-10 that final 6:11 as the two met in the title game for the second consecutive year.
"We laugh, we cry and get mad at each other," Cantella said. "We challenge each other in practice. Here we are."
