OCU streaks past St. Gregory's 85-43

The Stars move to 26-1 and 20-1 in conference play

Taylor Booze posted a game-high 20 points and six assists against St. Gregory's Wednesday.
SHAWNEE, Okla. – Top-ranked Oklahoma City University pushed past St. Gregory's 85-43 Wednesday at W.P. Wood Field House.
Three Stars scored at least 15 points to help move OCU to 26-1 overall and 20-1 in Sooner Athletic Conference play.
St. Gregory's kept pace with the Stars for much of the first half. OCU held a 19-17 lead at the 5:03 mark when Emily Davis scored in the paint to spark an 8-0 OCU run and give the Stars a 10-point lead with 3:21 left in the half.
OCU finished the half on a 14-5 run. Nicollette Smith stole the ball and scored with three seconds left to give the Stars a 35-22 lead at halftime.
Taylor Booze fueled the Stars with 10 first-half points. OCU forced 12 St. Gregory's turnovers in the period.
Lauren Gober scored on a putback layup at the 17:37 mark to start OCU on 23-7 run. The Stars made five 3-pointers during the run, including two from Smith, to take a 33-point lead with just over 10 minutes left to play.
OCU shot 50 percent from the floor and 40 percent from 3-point range in the second half to help maintain its double-digit lead.
Booze buried a 3-point jumper with five seconds left to put an exclamation point on OCU's 85-43 victory.
The Stars defense forced 12 more turnovers while holding St. Gregory's to 21 percent shooting from the floor and 12 percent from 3-point land in the second half.
Booze led all scorers with 20 points and six assists on the night. Dietra Caldwell added 17 points and Smith chipped in with 15 points and five rebounds off the bench.
The Stars will return to action for the regular-season finale against Oklahoma Baptist at 3 p.m. Saturday at Abe Lemons Arena.
