Stars smash Wayland Baptist 43-1

OCU picked up five pins against the Pioneers

Stephanie Geltmacher is ranked No. 1 at 136 pounds.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Top-ranked Oklahoma City University pounded Wayland Baptist (Texas) 43-1 Thursday at Abe Lemons Arena.
The Stars, ranked No. 1 in the WCWA, picked up five pins to earn the victory and move to 15-2 on the season.
“The girls pretty well dominated Wayland Baptist tonight,” OCU coach Archie Randall said. “For the girls it is all about seeding in the national tournament at this point.”
After a Wayland Baptist forfeit at 101 pounds, junior Kristi Garr, ranked No. 4 at 109, pinned Cheyenne Kemp in 47 seconds at 109. Senior Logan Rich followed with a pin of Lauryn Bruggink in 48 seconds at 116.
At 123, senior Joey Miller, ranked No. 1 at 116, pinned Jessica Von Behren in one minute and 42 seconds. Sophomore Brieana Delgado pinned Bethany Courkamp in 2:35 at 130.
Senior Audrey Morehouse gave OCU its fifth straight pin at 136. Morehouse, ranked No. 2 at 130, pinned Erin Miller in 1:26.
After a double forfeit at 143, Stephanie Geltmacher picked up a 2-0 decision over top-ranked Tamyra Mensah at 155.
Wayland Baptist posted another forfeit at 170.
Sophomore Heather O'Connor finished off the dual for OCU with a 2-1 decision over all-American Angela Vyborny at 191.
The Stars will return to action in the Waldorf Open on Jan. 5 in Forest City, Iowa.
