Stars fall 3-2 to Oklahoma Baptist in double overtime

OCU scored late to send the match to overtime, but fell to 6-3-3 overall

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University fell 3-2 in double overtime to Oklahoma Baptist Tuesday at Stars Field.
OCU got goals from junior Adam Black, of Liverpool, England, and senior Ryan Hunter, of Tulsa, Okla., but fell short in double overtime and move to 6-3-3 overall and 1-2 in Sooner Athletic Conference play.
The Bison jumped on top in the 17th minute when Taylor Thompson took a pass from Chance Johnson and scored to give Oklahoma Baptist a 1-0 advantage.
Black, Hunter and junior Trevor Harmon, of Allen, Texas, all put shots on goal in the first half, but Oklahoma Baptist goalkeeper Marcus Oliveira made five saves in the period to keep the score 1-0 at halftime.
In the 50th minute, freshman Daniel Yeom, of Tongyeong, South Korea, found Hunter with a cross from the left side of the field. Hunter put the ball off the post and in the net to even the score at 1-1.
Oklahoma Baptist's Victor Costa found the back of the net with a line-drive shot across the box in the 79th minute to make the score 2-1.
Black brought the Stars back in the 83rd minute when he took a shot from 30 yards out and beat Oliveira to tie the score at 2-2 and send the match to overtime.
In the 109th minute, Mario Maia took a corner kick and found Rodrigo Lopes on the back post. Lopes headed the ball off the cross bar and in the net to give Oklahoma Baptist the 3-2 win.
Junior goalkeeper Jalen Howard, of Oklahoma City, got the start between the posts and made five saves on the night.
OCU will return to action against USAO at 7 p.m. Friday at Stars Field.
