Stars to host Wayland Baptist in SAC Tournament first-round match

Top-seeded OCU defeated Wayland Baptist 3-0 on Oct. 20

OKLAHOMA CITY – Top-seeded Oklahoma City University will host Wayland Baptist (Texas) in the first round of the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament at 2 p.m. Friday at Stars Field.
The Stars, ranked No. 7 in NAIA women's soccer, defeated John Brown (Ark.) 3-0 on Oct. 27 to earn their third straight SAC regular-season title. The win gave OCU the No. 1 seed in the SAC Tournament and home field advantage throughout tournament play. OCU finished the season with a record of 16-1 overall and 7-1 in SAC competition.
The Stars posted 13 shutouts this season. The OCU defense and goalkeepers allowed just five goals in the regular season.
The Stars boast three players that have scored 10 goals or more so far this season. Senior Sheridan Horner, of Choctaw, Okla., has 10 goals, Allison Worsham, of Edmond, Okla., has 16 goals so far during her freshman campaign and Meghan McMahon, a junior from Oklahoma City, leads the Stars and the SAC with 24 goals.
Wayland Baptist finished the season with a record of 8-8-1 overall and 2-5-1 in SAC play. OCU downed the Pioneers 3-0 on Oct. 20 at Stars field.
The Stars added to their previous league titles in 1994, 1997, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2008, 2010 and 2011.
