Stars blank Mid-America Christian 1-0

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University pulled out a 1-0 win over Mid-America Christian Tuesday at Evangel Field.
The Stars got a goal from junior Adam Black, of Liverpool, England, to move to 6-2-3 on the season and 1-1 in Sooner Athletic Conference play.
Junior goalkeeper Jalen Howard, of Oklahoma City, made four saves in the first half to keep Mid-America off the scoreboard and help keep the score at 0-0 at halftime.
In the 74th minute, Black took a shot from 20 yards out and beat Mid-America goalkeeper Tyler McIntosh to give OCU a 1-0 lead.
Junior Trevor Harmon got a pass from fellow junior Jimmy Irwin in the 85th minute but his shot went wide and the score stayed at 1-0 in favor of the Stars.
Howard made saves in the 82nd minute and 88th minute to keep the Evangels off the scoreboard and give OCU the 1-0 lead.
Howard made seven saves in 90 minutes of work between the posts to pick up his first shutout of the season.
The Stars will return to action against Oklahoma Baptist at 7 p.m. on Oct. 7 at Stars Field.
