Stars fall 3-2 to No. 3 USAO

OCU took an early 2-0 lead, but fell 3-2 to USAO in overtime

OKLAHOMA CITY – Upset-minded Oklahoma City University fell 3-2 to third-ranked Science and Arts of Oklahoma in overtime Friday at Stars Field.
The Stars stormed out to a 2-0 lead, but surrendered three unanswered goals and move to 6-4-3 overall and 1-3 in Sooner Athletic Conference play. OCU has played seven overtime matches this season.
OCU got on the scoreboard in the 26th minute when junior Trevor Harmon, of Allen, Texas, sent a corner kick into the box. Senior David Kamali, of Sachse, Texas, corralled the loose ball and found the back of the net to give the Stars a 1-0 lead.
Junior goalkeeper Jalen Howard, of Oklahoma City, made three first-half saves to keep the Drovers off the board and give OCU a 1-0 lead at halftime.
The Stars doubled their lead in the 56th minute when sophomore Kieran McLachlan, of Airdrie, Scotland, took a corner kick form the right side of the field. Junior Adam Black, of Liverpool, England, deflected the ball toward Harmon who beat USAO goalkeeper Bryan Byars to make the score 2-0.
In the 64th minute, USAO's Perry Sansford took a pass from teammate Niall Burley and scored to cut the OCU lead to 2-1.
Sansford controlled a rebound in the box and scored again in the 68th minute to tie the score at 2-2 and send the match to overtime.
In the 98th minute, Sansford stole an OCU pass and scored to give USAO the 3-2 come-back win.
Howard made three saves in 98 minutes of work.
OCU will return to action against Lubbock Christian (Texas) at 7 p.m. Thursday at Stars Field.
