OCU stomps Ouachita Baptist 29-10

Fifth-ranked Stars overcome 7-3 deficit, improve to 7-5 in duals

Kidd Gomez, ranked fourth in the NAIA at 125 pounds, started OCU off with a 3-1 win Wednesday.
ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Oklahoma City University thumped Ouachita Baptist (Ark.) 29-10 on Wednesday at Benson-Blackmon Fieldhouse.
The Stars, ranked fifth in NAIA wrestling, moved to 7-5 in duals this season.
OCU's Michael Brown and Kevin Hardy pinned their opponents. Hardy, a senior from Solon, Ohio, finshed off Tyler Graham in 2:16. Hardy, the top-ranked 165-pounder in the NAIA, provided the Stars a 16-7 advantage.
Brown, a freshman from Noble, Okla., defeated Taylor Poe in 2:49. Brown, ranked seventh among NAIA 285-pounders, finished off the OCU rout.
Hunter Muskrat cut OCU's deficit to 7-6 with a 5-3 win over Dexter Carter at 149. Nik Turner posted a 10-1 victory over Bobby Williams to put OCU in front 10-7. Turner, a senior from Norman, Okla., holds the No. 1 ranking at 157.
Derek Peperas gave OCU a 19-7 lead with a 10-4 win over Gabe Musser at 174. Mitchell Eichenauer of the Stars beat C.J. Hays in a 20-5 technical fall at 197.
The Stars compete next in the Missouri Valley Invitational on Jan. 21 in Marshall, Mo.
