Box Score OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University kicked off its 25th season of men's soccer with 2-2 draw on the road at Sooner Athletic Conference rival Oklahoma Christian on Saturday.
The Stars got goals from freshman Adam Black and junior Ryan Hunter, but didn't gain control of the match.
Oklahoma City started the scoring off in the 27th minute when senior Steven Short found Black for a header to make the 1-0.
Oklahoma Christian would answer in the 29th minute with a goal of its own scored by Trey Boykin assisted by Duc Hyunh.
Both teams struggled to get shots on goal the rest of the first half, and the score was 1-1 at halftime.
The Stars snagged the lead again early in the second half when Short found Hunter for a goal in the 54th minute.
Oklahoma Christian tied it up again in the 61st minute on a goal by Hyunh assisted by Neil Hilton and Cion Samuel.
Neither team was able to pull away in overtime and match ended in a 2-2 draw. Short led the way for the Stars offensively, assisting both on both goals. Junior Joe Shulberg made three saves in 110 minutes in his first appearance for the Stars.
The Stars will hit the pitch Friday against Columbia (Mo.) in the John Brown Classic in Siloam Springs, Ark.
