OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University flew past Oklahoma Christian 5-0 in its Sooner Athletic Conference opener Tuesday at Stars Field.
Four Stars scored to help give OCU its first SAC win of the season. OCU, ranked 17th in NAIA women's soccer, moved to 6-1 on the season.
OCU doubled its lead in the 12th minute when sophomore Meghan McMahon took a pass from Horner and found the back of the net to make the score 2-0.
OCU score one more first-half goal in the 27th minute when McMahon struck again, this time assisted by junior Rachael O'Brien to put the Stars up 4-0.
Junior Brenna Skillern capped off the scoring in the 69th minute when she took a pass from Haymans and beat Oklahoma Christian goalkeeper Chelsie Flagg to make the final score 5-0.
Sophomore goalkeepers Alissa Reed and Ashley Bechtold split time between the pipes and combined for the shutout. Bechtold made two saves and faced two shots. Reed faced three shots and saw action in the midfield in the second half.
The Stars outshot Oklahoma Christian 21-5 and allowed only two shots on goal.
McMahon scored her seventh and eighth goals of the season, and Rashica scored her sixth to lead the OCU offense.
The Stars return to action against Northwestern Oklahoma State at noon Saturday in Alva, Okla.
