OCU draws 1-1 in rematch with Oklahoma Christian

The Stars and Eagles play to a second double overtime draw

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University men's soccer faced Oklahoma Christian for the second time this season, and for the second time the teams played to a double overtime draw.
The Stars move to 2-2-3 on the season with the 1-1 draw in their Sooner Athletic Conference opener.
Each squad saw scoring chances in the first half, but neither was able to capitalize and the score was 0-0 at halftime.
Oklahoma Christian broke into the scoring column first when Duc Huynh sent a pass across the box and found Don Towner who beat sophomore goalkeeper Joe Shulberg to make the score 1-0.
The Stars equalized with less than four minutes remaining in regulation when junior Ryan Hunter picked out freshman Adam Black who found the back of the net to make the score 1-1.
Both teams played stout defense in the extra periods, and the match ended with a score of 1-1.
Black scored his fourth goal of the season and Hunter notched his first assist to lead the Stars on offense.
Shulberg allowed one goal and made three saves in 120 minutes of action for OCU.
The Stars outshot Oklahoma Christian 20 to nine, but were only able to put four shots on goal.
OCU will return to action against John Brown at 2 p.m. on Oct. 5 at Stars Field.
