OCU suffers first loss against Texas Wesleyan 2-1

13th-ranked Stars move to 3-1 on season

McMahon scored her fourth goal of the season at Texas Wesleyan.
FORT WORTH, Texas – Oklahoma City University women's soccer suffered its first loss of the season Tuesday at Texas Wesleyan 2-1 at Martin Field.
With the loss the Stars, ranked 13th in the NAIA, moved to 3-1 on the season.
Each team played stellar defense in the first half. Sophomore goalkeeper Alissa Reedsaved both Texas Wesleyan shots on goal to help keep the score 0-0 at halftime.
Senior Lauren Haymansand sophomore Meghan McMahoneach had first-half shots on goal saved by Texas Wesleyan goalkeeper Aubree Gallego.
Texas Wesleyan broke the tie in the 61st minute when Jessica Watton scored on a ball played into the box by Paige Wheaton to make the score 1-0.
OCU evened the score at 1-1 in the 65th minute when McMahon found the back of the net off of a corner kick from freshman Allie Glazner.
Seconds later, Texas Wesleyan broke the tie again when Watton scored on a rebound off the goal post making the score 2-1.
McMahon and junior Brenna Skillerneach had shots hit the cross the bar crossbar in the 70th minute, and the score remained 2-1.
Sophomore Ariel Bayatfarproduced the Stars' last scoring chance when her shot was saved by Gallego in the 82nd minute, and the game ended 2-1.
Reed played a full 90 minutes, allowed two goals and notched two saves.
McMahon netted her fourth goal of the season. She had four shots on goal in eight attempts.
The Stars had eight of nine shots on goal saved by Texas Wesleyan.
OCU will return to action at Southwestern Oklahoma State at 4 p.m. Tuesday in Weatherford, Okla.
