OCU draws 1-1 with Texas Wesleyan

Stars move to 0-2-2 on season

FORT WORTH, Texas – Oklahoma City University men's soccer drew 1-1 with Texas Wesleyan in double overtime Tuesday at Martin Field.
With the draw, the Stars went to 0-2-2 on the season and avoided losing their third straight match.
Texas Wesleyan got on the board first in the 39th minute when Ivan Kovacevic was given a penalty kick after an OCU foul. Kovacevic capitalized and made the score 1-0.
Freshman Adam Black had two shots on goal saved by Texas Wesleyan goalkeeper Dejan Milosevic, and junior Ryan Hunter had one.
Oklahoma City tied the match when the Stars were given a penalty kick in the 64th minute. Black took advantage for the Stars to make the score 1-1.
Black and freshman Kieran McLachlan had shots on goal saved by Milosevic late in the second half, keeping the Stars off the scoreboard.
Sophomore Joe Shulberg made three saves in the second half to keep the score 1-1 at the end of regulation.
Texas Wesleyan recorded the only shot on goal in the overtime periods when Hector Vargas had his shot saved in the 105th minute by sophomore goalkeeper Jalen Howard to keep the score 1-1. Howard replaced Shulberg late in the 88th minute of the match.
The Stars failed to record a shot on goal in extra time and the match ended 1-1.
Black scored his second goal of the season, recording four shots on goal in six attempts.
Shulberg allowed one goal and recorded five saves in 91 minutes of action. Howard played 18 minutes and notched one save.
Oklahoma City returns to action against Oklahoma Wesleyan on Sept. 21 in Bartlesville, Okla.
