Box Score SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. – Sophomores Meghan McMahon and Blerta Rashica struck again to lead Oklahoma City University women's soccer past Bethel (Tenn.) 2-0 on Saturday at Alumni Field in the John Brown Classic.
The Stars, ranked 14th in the NAIA, got second-half goals from McMahon and Rashica to defeat Bethel and move to 2-0 on the season.
Oklahoma City played stiff defense only allowing one shot on goal. Sophomores Alissa Reed and Ashley Bechtold shared time in goal and came away with another shutout. Reed recorded one save.
The Stars put five shots on goal in the first half and had all five saved by Bethel goalkeeper Jessica Coates.
Both teams were held scoreless until the 71st minute when McMahon found the back of the net assisted by junior Rachael O'Brien.
Rashica sealed the deal with an unassisted goal in the 79th minute. Rashica's fourth goal of the year helped bring the Stars their second win of the year.
Oklahoma City will hit the field for its home opener Sept. 4 against Missouri Valley. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Stars Field.
