OCU stays unbeaten with 42-5 win over Wayland Baptist

Stars move to 12-0, increase win streak to 48 consecutive duals

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University powered its way to a 42-5 victory over Wayland Baptist (Texas) on Wednesday at Abe Lemons Arena.
The Stars, ranked No. 1 in the Women's College Wrestling Association, notched six falls while improving to 12-0 this season. OCU has won 48 consecutive duals and gone 63-0-1 in its last 64 duals.
Each of OCU's top-ranked individuals picked up wins against fifth-ranked Wayland Baptist. The Stars' Kristie Davis, Brittany Delgado, Michaela Hutchison, Tessa Plana and Emily Webster each stand No. 1 at their respective weights.
Delgado, Hutchison, Plana, Webster, Joey Miller and Jennifer Page pinned their opponents. Miller is ranked No. 2 at 116.
“The girls wrestled well and bounced back from the New York trip,” OCU coach Archie Randall said. “They took command of the dual. We only had one loss, but Logan Rich will get a chance to avenge that.
“Jennifer Page as a freshman is developing into one of the top girls in the nation. I think she'll knock off the No. 1 girl this weekend. She's an outstanding kid. She does everything we do. She's always happy and in a good mood. She's powerful enough to score when she wants to.”
Page, ranked second at 143, pinned Tamrya Mensah with 11 seconds left in the second period. Mensah entered the bout ranked fourth.
Davis, a senior from Mustang, Okla., won 7-0, 7-0 by technical fall over Valerie Rosales at 155.
OCU's Brittney Roberts defeated Loraine Herrera 1-0, 3-0 in the 170-pound bout. Roberts, a junior from Santa Fe, Texas, took the first period after going to a clinch period.
The Stars compete in the Cumberlands Duals on Friday and Saturday in Williamsburg, Ky.
