Hendey of OCU takes top spot in WCWA rankings

Stars continue as No. 1 team in country

Michaela Hutchison has been the No. 1 wrestler at 123 pounds throughout the season.

OKLAHOMA CITY – The latest edition of the Women's College Wrestling Association rankings feature two new No. 1-ranked individuals, while Oklahoma City University retained the top spot in the team rankings.
Amanda Hendey of OCU took over as No. 1 at 136 pounds, while Kendra Lewis of Lindenwood (Mo.) became the new No. 1 at 170.
Hendey, a freshman from Beaumont, Calif., owns a 13-4 record this season and finished as runner-up in the Sunkist Kids International Open on Oct. 29 in Mesa, Ariz. Lewis, a senior from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, finished as national runner-up last season.
The Stars knocked off sixth-ranked Missouri Valley 34-8 on Nov. 16 in their last competition. OCU improved to 11-0 in duals this season. The Stars have won 47 consecutive duals and gone 62-0-1 in their previous 63 duals.
The WCWA Championships will be held Jan. 28 in Bristol, Tenn., while the NWCA National Duals will take place Jan. 6-7 in Springfield, Ill. OCU will seek its fourth consecutive WCWA championship and its fifth NWCA National Dual title in a row.
OCU takes on fifth-ranked Wayland Baptist (Texas) at 7 p.m. Nov. 30 at Abe Lemons Arena.
