OCU sneaks past Southern Nazarene 2-1

The Stars will likely host a first-round match in the SAC tournament

Box Score BETHANY, Okla. – Oklahoma City University men's soccer wrapped up Sooner Athletic Conference play with a 2-1 victory over Southern Nazarene Tuesday on the road at Wes Harmon Field.
The Stars move to 7-5-4 on the season and 5-3-2 in SAC play.
OCU took the lead early when senior Steven Short scored his first goal of the season in the fifth minute to make the score 1-0.
The Stars doubled their lead in the 55th minute when freshman Kieran McLachlan scored his third goal of the season on a cross from sophomore Drew Hall to make the score 2-0.
SNU cut the lead back to one in the 65th minute when Brock Amaya scored on a rebound off the post to make the score 2-1.
The OCU defense only allowed three shots on goal in the second half to help come away with the 2-1 victory.
Sophomore goalkeeper Jalen Howard made his fourth start of the season allowed one goal and made four saves in 90 minutes of action.
OCU outshot Southern Nazarene 17-14 and put four shots on goal in the match.
The Stars will likely enter the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament with the No. 3 or No. 4 seed and will host a first-round match.
