Stars drop USAO 3-2 to stay unbeaten at home

OCU moves to 14-1-1 on the season and 9-0-1 in SAC play

Meghan McMahon scored season goals Nos. 15 and 16 in the 3-2 win.
OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University women's soccer, ranked 14th in the NAIA, held on to beat Science and Arts of Oklahoma 3-2 Friday in the final home match of the season at Stars Field.
With the win the Stars move to 14-1-1 on the season and 9-0-1 in Sooner Athletic Conference play.
OCU broke into the scoring column early when sophomore Meghan McMahon scored her 15th goal of the season in the 18th minute assisted by junior Sheridan Horner to make the score 1-0.
The Stars padded their lead in the 46th minute when the combo of Horner and McMahon struck again for McMahon's 16th goal of the season making the score 2-0 at halftime.
USAO cut the lead to one in the 54th minute when Mistery Neal found Calli Cooper who found the back of the net to make the score 2-1.
OCU stretched the lead back to two in the 70th minute when sophomore Ariel Bayatfar netted her third goal of the season assisted by sophomore Gianna Puskarich  to make the score 3-1.
USAO cut the lead back to one when Erin Coggan scored in the 81st minute, but that would be as close as USAO got as the game ended with a score of 3-2.
The Stars posted five shots on goal and outshot USAO 13-7 on the match.
Sophomore goalkeepers Ashley Bechtold and Alissa Reed split time in goal. Bechtold got the start making one save and allowing no goals in 45 minutes. Reed allowed two goals and made two saves in 45 minutes of action.
The Stars will return to action for their final regular season match against Southern Nazarene at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Bethany, Okla.
