Stars knock off USAO 2-1

OCU spoils USAO's perfect SAC record

Box Score OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University men's soccer upset Science and Arts of Oklahoma, ranked 22nd in the NAIA, 2-1 Friday in the final home match of the season at Stars Field.
The Stars move to 6-5-4 on the season, 4-3-2 in Sooner Athletic Conference play and hand USAO its first SAC loss.
OCU played stiff defense in the first half, but was unable to get going offensively as the first half ended 0-0.
The Stars grabbed the lead in the 66th minute when freshman Adam Black got a pass from fellow freshman Kieran McLachlan to score his 12th goal of the season and make the score1-0.
USAO equalized in the 77th minute when Niall Crick found the back of the net off a free kick to make the score 1-1.
The Stars regained the lead in the 81st minute when they were given a penalty kick. Black took advantage scoring his 13th goal of the season and putting OCU on top 2-1.
OCU continued its defensive efforts in the final ten minutes of the game and came away with the 2-1 victory.
The Stars put two shots on goal and were outshot by USAO 15-6.
Sophomore Jalen Howard made his third start of the season and made two saves in 90 minutes of action.
The Stars will play their regular season finale against Southern Nazarene at 8 p.m. Tuesday in Bethany, Okla.
