OCU outlasts Mid-America Christian 3-2

The Stars stay unbeaten in SAC play and move to 13-1-1 on the season

Margaret Lee scored her first goal of the season against Mid-America.
OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University women's soccer survived a back and forth match Tuesday beating Mid-America Christian 3-2 at Evangel Field.
With the win the Stars, ranked 14th in the NAIA, move to 13-1-1 on the season and 8-0-1 in Sooner Athletic Conference play.
OCU fell behind in the first minute of the game when Kassie Byrd beat the Stars defense and sophomore goalkeeper Alissa Reed to make the score 1-0.
The Stars drew even in the 31st minute when freshman Allie Glazner took a corner kick and found junior Sheridan Horner who scored her seventh goal of the season to make the score 1-1.
In the 35th minute OCU took the lead when Glazner took a shot that bounced off the cross bar and into the goal for her fourth goal of the season making the score 2-1.
Mid-America tied it up in the 40th minute when Byrd scored her second goal of the match to make the score 2-2 at halftime.
The Stars regained the lead in the 46th minute when sophomore Meghan McMahon found fellow sophomore Margaret Lee for her first goal of the season to make the score 3-2.
Reed and fellow sophomore goalkeeper Ashley Bechtold split time in goal. Bechtold made five saves in the second half to keep Mid-America off the scoreboard and give the Stars the 3-2 win.
OCU outshot Mid-America 29-12 on the match and put 14 shots on goal.
The Stars will return home for their final home match of the season against the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma at 5 p.m. Friday at Stars Field.
