Stars rally late to pick up 4-2 win over Wayland Baptist

Rashica nets four to give OCU the 4-2 road win

Blerta Rashica scored four goals against Wayland Baptist.
PLAINVIEW, Texas – Oklahoma City University women's soccer got four goals from sophomore Blerta Rashica Saturday to squeak past Wayland Baptist (Texas) 4-2 on the road at Hilliard Field.
Rashica scored three of her four goals late in the second half to help give the Stars, ranked 15th in the NAIA, the victory and move to 12-1-1 on the season and 7-0-1 in Sooner Athletic Conference play.
OCU got on the board early in the seventh minute when Rashica beat Wayland Baptist goalkeeper Courtney Chambers to score her eighth goal of the season and make the score 1-0.
Wayland Baptist drew even in the 34th minute when Jordan James got the ball past sophomore goalkeeper Alissa Reed to make the score 1-1.
James struck again in the 44th minute to make the score 2-1 in favor of Wayland Baptist.
The Stars drew even in the 77th minute when Rashica scored her ninth goal of the season off of a free kick to make the score 2-2.
In the 78th minute OCU was awarded a penalty kick after Sarah Castro was shown a red card for a hand ball in the box. Rashica took advantage and scored her 10th goal of the season and third of the game to make the score 3-2.
The Stars slammed the door in the 86th minute when Rashica found the back of the net for her 11th goal of the season and fourth of the game making the final score 4-2.
OCU outshot Wayland Baptist 22-6 on the game and put 14 shots on goal.
Sophomore goalkeeper Ashley Bechtold split time in goal with Reed. Reed allowed two goals and made one save in 45 minutes and Bechtold made two saves in 45 minutes.
The Stars will return to action against Mid-America Christian at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Oklahoma City.
