OCU picks up second in Harold Funston Invitational

Marchesani leads Stars to finish better than six NCAA Division I teams

James Marchesani ended up five strokes off the pace Tuesday.

HUNTSVILLE, Texas – Oklahoma City University took runner-up in the Sam Houston State Harold Funston Invitational on Tuesday at Ravens Nest Golf Club.
The Stars, ranked third in the NAIA men's golf Golf World rankings, carded a 283-284–567 to finish place second to host Sam Houston State. James Marchesani, a sophomore from Victoria, Rosebud, Australia, fired a 68-70–138 to take third.
OCU finished ahead of six NCAA Division I teams and Oklahoma Christian, ranked No. 1 in the NAIA.
The Stars' Michael Palmer, a junior from Johannesburg, South Africa, added a 69-70–139 to be fourth. Cameron Meyers tied for 10th with a 72-71–143, while Taylor Artman had a 74-73–147. Sondre Ronold shot a 75-74–149.
OCU finishes the fall season with the Oklahoma Christian Fall Invitational on Oct. 31-Nov.1 at River Oaks Golf Club in Edmond, Okla.
