OCU moves to 18-0 in duals this season

Stars have gone 51-0-1 since their last loss Nov. 29, 2008

BRISTOL, Tenn. – Oklahoma City University remained unbeaten this season in women's wrestling duals after a 36-9 victory over King (Tenn.) and a 46-0 win over Missouri Valley on Saturday.

The top-ranked Stars went to 18-0 this season. Two-time defending Women's College Wrestling Association champion OCU improved to 51-0-1 over the past 52 duals.

Against King, Michaela Hutchison, Amberle Montgomery and Brittany Delgado won by fall for OCU. Hutchison, a junior from Soldotna, Alaska, finished her 55-kilogram match against Angelina Miranda in 1:13.

Montgomery, a sophomore from Portland, Ore., defeated Alli Ragan 1:03 into the second period at 67. Brittany Delgado, a junior from Simpsonville, S.C., ended her match against Emilii Russell 43 seconds into the second period.

Against Missouri Valley, OCU posted its fourth shutout ever since starting the program in 2007-08. OCU has registered three of those whitewashes this season.

Delgado, Hutchison, Kristi Garr, Joey Miller, Melissa Simmons and Karon Scott notched pins for OCU. Hutchison had the quickest fall of the dual in 49 seconds over Felicia Cruz.

The Stars face Missouri Baptist at 6 p.m., then Wayland Baptist (Texas) at 8 p.m. Wednesday at Abe Lemons Arena.
