OCU offense dominant; Stars defense allows one shot on goal

Malin Anderssona and Meghan McMahon had seven shots apiece against LSU-Shreveport.

SHREVEPORT, La. – Oklahoma City University got off to a hot start to the 2010 campaign, notching a 5-0 victory in their season opener against LSU-Shreveport on Saturday morning.
The Stars, ranked 25th in NAIA women's soccer, fired off 28 shots, 18 of which were on goal in the contest. Malin Andersson, a senior from Huskvarna, Sweden, led the charge with six shots on goal, two of which found their target.
Also scoring for the Stars was Alex Miley, a senior from Edmond, Okla. Miley was joined in the offensive attack by a pair of freshmen in Meghan McMahon, from Oklahoma City, and Ariel Bayatfar, from Ada, Okla.
Sheridan Horner, a sophomore from Choctaw, Okla., tallied two assists against LSU-Shreveport. McMahon and Andersson also chipped in assists in the match.
The stout defensive effort by the Stars allowed only one shot on goal by the opposition on the day. This helped goalkeeper Brittany Tibbs, a senior from Kansas City, earn her first shutout of the season.
OCU will next take to the pitch in a Monday morning matchup in Shreveport, La., with Belhaven (Miss.) at 9 a.m.
