MUSKOGEE, Okla. – Oklahoma City University blasted Bacone 32-12 using three falls on Wednesday.

Jeremy Garner, Mark Meyer and Will Shelton each recorded pins for OCU. The Stars, ranked 13th in NAIA wrestling, improved to 4-10 in duals.

Garner, a junior from Oklahoma City, put OCU on the board by sticking the pin on Rodrickus Rogers in 1:34 at 141 pounds. OCU had fallen behind in the dual 8-0.

Shelton, a junior from Sperry, Okla., put OCU on top 12-8 with his fall over Jewel Jackson in 4:38 at 149. Meyer, a sophomore from Midwest City, Okla., finished off Cornelius Sutton in 6:15 at 165.

“This was the first dual where we had all of our starters available,” OCU coach Archie Randall said. “We wrestled well. We are now competing at the level to have the opportunity to represent OCU like we want to at regionals and nationals.”

Nik Turner also picked up a bonus-point win for OCU in a 22-6 technical-fall victory over Tim Hammond at 157. Turner, a junior from Norman, Okla., is ranked fifth among NAIA 157-pounders.

Corey Johnson, Jake Mabry and Andrew Pontikes each won by decision.
