OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University will host Rogers State at 2 p.m. Friday at Stars Field in the opening round of the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament.
The Stars finished the season 9-5-2, 5-3-2 in conference following a 3-1 loss to 15th-ranked Oklahoma Baptist on Tuesday night. Despite the loss, OCU finished third overall in the conference standings to earn the right to host Rogers State.
“We lost to Rogers State 1-0 at home during the regular season, and it was a difficult loss for the men,” OCU coach Brian Harvey said. “I know they'll be looking to avenge that result and get a win on Friday.”
OCU is led by senior forward Alex Gang, who has a team-high seven goals, seven assists and 21 points on the season. Five other Stars clock in with double-digit point totals on the year. John Dill, Chris Spendlove, Francis Malalou, Steven Short and Stuart Hilton all have contributed at least 10 points for OCU.
The Stars are nine-time Sooner Athletic Conference Champions, taking the title in 1990, 1991, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1999, 2001, 2002 and 2008.
