FORT WORTH, Texas – Oklahoma City University's women's soccer team lost 5-3 Tuesday at No. 21 Texas Wesleyan.
The Stars (1-2) got an early goal from Sarah Leonard in the third minute of the match, but were unable to keep up with TWU in the second half. Leonard's goal was her team-leading fourth of the season.
Following OCU's early goal, Texas Wesleyan tied the score at one each with a goal by Cara Lumpkin just before halftime.
Texas Wesleyan was too much for OCU in the second half as they scored three goals in the first 25 minutes of the half to build a 4-1 lead.
Malin Andersson scored a goal when her corner kick went in the net in the 78th minute to cut the lead to 4-2.
Following another TWU goal in the 81st minute, Sarah Burnett finished off the scoring with a goal in the 89th minute.
The Stars were outshot in the match 15-13 by Texas Wesleyan, but managed a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Goalkeeper Brittany Tibbs recorded five saves in the losing effort.
OCU will travel to Ada for a matchup against East Central at 2 p.m. Sunday.
