FORT WORTH, Texas – No. 6 Oklahoma City University was unable to overcome an early two-goal deficit in a 2-1 loss at Texas Wesleyan on Tuesday night.
Texas Wesleyan scored two goals in the first 17 minutes and held on to give OCU (1-1-1) its first loss of the season.
Texas Wesleyan's first goal came in the seventh minute by Theo Nabassi on an assist from John Kuethe. TWU went up 2-0 in the 17th minute on a goal by Adis Druzanovic from near midfield.
Despite outshooting TWU 14-5 in the first half, OCU trailed 2-0 at the break.
The Stars got on the board in the 47th minute when John Dill scored off a corner kick. Steven Short was credited for the assist.
The Stars outshot Texas Wesleyan 25-12 for the game.
OCU will travel to Siloam Springs, Ark. Sept. 11-12 for the John Brown Classic. The Stars will play Illinois Tech on Friday at 12:30 p.m. and Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) on Saturday at 12:30 p.m.
