OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University scored early and often in a 15-0 rout of Hillsdale Baptist on Tuesday evening at Stars Field.
The Stars (7-1-1) outshot Hillsdale 47-3 for the game, including 30-1 shots on goal in a dominating effort. OCU, ranked 14th in NAIA men's soccer, has now won six games in a row heading into conference play.
OCU got things going in the third minute when A.J. Franks scored off a feed from Alex Gang for a 1-0 lead.
The Stars made it 2-0 when John Dill scored his second goal of the season in the ninth minute off a corner kick from Steven Short. Short, a sophomore from Durban, South Africa, now leads the team with seven assists on the season.
Gang, a senior from Seoul, South Korea, scored two of the next three goals to make it 5-0. Gang leads the team with 10 goals and 22 points for the season.
The Stars led 8-0 at the half after Valentin Ponce scored in the 40th minute. OCU had 27-1 edge in shots at the half.
Jason Gidney finished the game with a team-leading three goals on the night. Stuart Hilton and Gang added two goals each for OCU. Franks, Chris Spendlove, Peiman Pahlevan, Dill, Ponce, Preston Cox, Matt Mason and Trevor Rush all had a goal.
The Stars had an 11-0 advantage in corner kicks.
OCU will open Sooner Athletic conference play at home against Rogers State at 8 p.m. on Saturday at Stars Field.
