ORANGE BEACH, Ala. – No. 15 Oklahoma City University used two late goals in the second half to pull out a 2-1 victory over Mobile (Ala.) in day two of the Mobile Classic.
Chris Spendlove and Brandon Hull each scored goals in the second half for OCU. The Stars (6-1-1) have now won five matches in a row.
OCU fell behind early when Onesimus Ikungo scored in the 19th minute to give Mobile a 1-0 lead. The Stars were outshot 10-6 in the first half and trailed at the half for the third time this season.
OCU tied the game in the 65th minute when Spendlove, a junior from Liverpool, England, scored his third goal of the season on a diving header off a free kick from Steven Short. The assist was Short's third in two games during the tournament.
The Stars took a 2-1 lead when Hull headed in a goal off a corner kick from John Dill in the 74th minute. Hull, a senior defender from Yukon, Okla., scored his first goal of the season and the sixth of his career to help the Stars to the win.
OCU had a commanding 13-7 shots lead in the second half and held a 19-17 advantage for the game.
Andy Fitzpatrick recorded four saves in goal for the Stars.
OCU will host Hillsdale Baptist at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Stars Field.
