OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University's men's soccer team captured a 3-0 victory over LSU-Shreveport in its home opener Monday afternoon at Stars Field.
The No. 3-ranked Stars (1-0-1) were able to bounce back nicely from a tie at Huston-Tillotson (Texas) on Saturday.
“I felt we did quite well considering we were playing so many freshmen,” OCU coach Brian Harvey said. “We will always be a difficult team to beat here at home.”
OCU got off to a quick start with a goal in the first minute by Peiman Pahlevan. Alex Gang dished out a stellar pass to Pahlevan to pick up the assist.
The game stayed 1-0 until Preston Cox drilled a goal into the right side in the 57th minute. Pahlevan, a freshman from Vallentuna, Sweden, was credited for the assist.
Gang, a junior from Seoul, South Korea, put the game away with goal on a penalty kick in the 80th minute. The goal was Gang's second of the season.
OCU will next play at 7 p.m. Sept. 8 against Texas Wesleyan in Fort Worth, Texas. The Stars' next home game will be Sept. 22 against Northwood (Texas) at 7 p.m.
