MESQUITE, Nev. – Oklahoma City University held off host California Baptist for a three-stroke win in the Spring Break Intercollegiate on Tuesday at the Palm Golf Course.
Top-ranked four-time defending NAIA women's golf champion OCU posted a 294-294–588, while fourth-ranked California Baptist had a 301-290–591.
The Stars' Ashley Sholer finished as tournament runner-up by a stroke. Sholer, a senior from Hamilton, shot 74-70–144 to finish behind Malin Thorberg of California Baptist.
OCU's Sydney Cox and Paige Martin each chipped in a 148. Cox shot 72-76, while Martin carded 73-75.
Laura Jones finished with a 75-74–149, while Christina Cung recorded a 72-78–150 for OCU.
The Stars were 16 strokes better than fourth-ranked British Columbia, 30 strokes ahead of 10th-ranked Berry (Ga.), 41 shots in front of No. 17 Savannah Art & Design (Ga.) and 69 shots ahead of ninth-ranked Southern Nazarene.
OCU will compete next in the Bluebonnet Classic on March 30-31 in DeSoto, Texas.
