OCU women drop 82-75 decision to Wayland Baptist

Brett Bates posted 19 points.

PLAINVIEW, Texas – Oklahoma City University fell to Wayland Baptist (Texas) 82-75 on Saturday at the Hutcherson Center.

The Stars, ranked seventh in the NAIA Division I women's basketball, moved to 19-4, 11-4 in the Sooner Athletic Conference. Brett Bates, a freshman from Hobart, Okla., led the Stars with 19 points.
Laura Duncan, a junior from Edmond, Okla., added 14 points and two steals.

Atta Diabate, a senior from Mali, West Africa, posted a double-double for the Stars, sinking 12 points and grabbing 12 rebounds.

Chontaye Walter, a junior from Oklahoma City, chipped in 13 points to round out the Stars' double-digit scorers.

Wayland Baptist posted 44 rebounds to the Stars' 40 as well as forcing 25 OCU turnovers in the matchup.

OCU will face St. Gregory's at 6 p.m. Thursday at Abe Lemons Arena.
