THE MATCHUP: Oklahoma City University faces Sooner Athletic Conference foe John Brown (Ark.).
Tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for children. OCU students and faculty are admitted free into all Stars events with their ID.
ABOUT THE STARS: The Stars improved to 21-5, 13-5 in the SAC, defeating Mid-America Christian 69-54 on Monday at Abe Lemons Arena. Holly Hardin led the Stars with 21 points and eight rebounds.
Hardin, a 6-foot junior from Chickasha, Okla., paces the Stars, averaging 13.2 points, 9.3 rebounds, 1.96 steals and 1.42 blocks per game. Chelsea Ledbetter, a 5-8 senior from Norman, Okla., had with 14 points, seven assists and four steals. Ledbetter averages 9.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 1.62 steals, ranking 10th nationally in assists.
Laura Duncan, Breezy Martin and Chontaye Walter all chipped in eight points for the Stars. Duncan, a 5-8 junior from Edmond, Okla., averages 12 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.58 steals per game. Martin, a 5-11 junior from Oklahoma City, averages 10.2 points and 4.6 boards for the Stars. Walter, a 5-8 junior from Oklahoma City, ranks third in the NAIA in 3-point field-goal percentage, shooting 48.3 percent from behind the arc.
The Stars lead NAIA Division I in assists, averaging 20.7 per game, and rebounding margin at 14.2 a game. OCU is also ranked second in rebounding (45.3) and scoring margin (25.8) and third in field-goal percentage (46.8 percent) and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.13 assists per turnover).
The Stars are currently ranked 16th in the NAIA. OCU, which has won eight of the last nine league titles, was picked to finish second in the conference.
OCU has gone 24-4 against John Brown over the years, defeating John Brown 76-69 on Jan. 17 in Siloam Springs, Ark., in the last meeting. The Stars rallied with a 17-2 run in the final 4:20 of the game.
ABOUT THE GOLDEN EAGLES: John Brown fell to 12-14, 6-12 in the SAC after being defeated by Southern Nazarene 91-68 on Saturday at the Sawyer Center in Bethany, Okla.
Ashley Taylor led the Golden Eagles with 15 points and five rebounds. Emily Ortiz had 12 points and seven assists, while LeNece Glossett added 11 points.
Taylor, a 5-10 sophomore, paces JBU with 15.8 points and 7.1 boards per game. Micaela Cully, a 5-7 junior, adds 9.8 points per game.
John Brown was picked to finish ninth in the conference in the preseason.
ABOUT THE COACHES: Rob Edmisson has a record of 108-21 in his fourth season guiding OCU, picking up his 400th career win on Dec. 11. Edmisson, the 2008 SAC coach of the year, led the Stars to SAC regular-season and tournament championships two of the past three seasons. Edmisson coached the only player drafted into the WNBA from OCU, Mariam Sy. He won 192 games at Hutchinson (Kan.) and 110 as a high school coach in Kansas.
Jeff Soderquist is in his 12th season as John Brown coach. He has the most women's basketball wins in school history with a record of 167-203. Soderquist led John Brown to the NAIA Division I Tournament in 2004 and 2006.
