SHAWNEE, Okla. – Oklahoma City University's women's basketball team lost to fourth-ranked Oklahoma Baptist 79-62 on Saturday at the Noble Complex.
The Stars, ranked 13th in NAIA Division I, moved to 20-5, 12-5 in the Sooner Athletic Conference. Breezy Martin, a junior from Oklahoma City, led the Stars with 11 points and five rebounds.
Laura Duncan, a junior from Edmond, Okla., chipped in 11 points as well, grabbing four boards.
The Stars shot 36.2 percent from the field and 14.3 percent from behind the 3-point line in the contest.
The Stars defense posted 33 rebounds and forced 19 Oklahoma Baptist turnovers.
Emily Davis, a freshman from Guthrie, Okla., and Atta Diabate, a senior from Mali, West Africa, added 10 points each to the Stars' effort. Diabate grabbed five rebounds as well.
Chontaye Walter, a junior from Oklahoma City, had a team-high six rebounds and handed out three assists in the matchup.
In the first half, the Stars shot 39.1 percent from the field and 25 percent from behind the arc. The Lady Bison capitalized on the Stars' 16 turnovers in the first half, scoring 17 points off turnovers. OCU committed only four turnovers in the second half.
OCU will face Mid-America Christian on Monday at 6 p.m. at Abe Lemons Arena.
