THE MATCHUP: Oklahoma City University continues Sooner Athletic Conference play against St. Gregory's.
Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for students. Admission is free for all OCU athletic events to OCU faculty, staff and students with their ID.
ABOUT THE STARS: OCU opened the conference slate with a 72-64 overtime loss to third-ranked Oklahoma Baptist on Thursday in Shawnee, Okla. The Stars (4-2, 0-1 SAC) went scoreless the final 2:49 of the game.
Donica Cosby, a 5-foot-8 junior from Coldwater, Miss., tallied 17 points, four rebounds and two assists. Cosby records 17.2 points, 4.6 assists and 1.60 steals. Holly Hardin, a 6-foot senior from Chickasha, Okla., had 17 points, eight rebounds, three assists, two blocked shots and two steals. Hardin averages 13.7 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.17 blocks a contest and ranks second in the NAIA with a 66.7 percent shooting percentage.
Starr Fairbanks, a 6-2 junior from Cincinnati, contributed 13 points and four rebounds. Fairbanks adds 10.5 points and 3.5 rebounds a game.
The Stars have been ranked eighth in NAIA Division I in the preseason. OCU has been picked to finish second in the conference. The Stars are tied for the most wins of any women's basketball program in the nation over the past nine years.
OCU owns a 25-1 all-time record against St. Gregory's. The Stars defeated St. Gregory's 68-43 on Feb. 12 at Abe Lemons Arena in the last meeting.
ABOUT THE LADY CAVALIERS: St. Gregory's fell 68-61 to Mid-America Christian on Thursday in Shawnee, Okla. St. Gregory's (5-4, 0-1 SAC) faced a 16-point deficit, but whittled it down to a five-point margin in the final minute.
Carletta Hernandez, a 5-11 senior, scored a team-high 13 points, hitting 6 of 8 shots from the field. Hernandez averages 15.2 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.22 steals a game.
Brittania Simmons, a 6-foot junior, added 11 points, going 5-for-8 from the floor. Leticia Silva, a 5-10 freshman, has put together 13.4 points and 6.0 rebounds a game.
St. Gregory's was picked to finish last in the conference in the preseason by league coaches.
ABOUT THE COACHES: Rob Edmisson has posted a stellar 122-24 record in his fifth season at OCU and a 424-143 record overall in his 20th season as a head coach. Edmisson has led the Stars to SAC regular-season championships twice and the SAC Tournament title three times. Edmisson coached the only player drafted into the WNBA from OCU, Mariam Sy. He won 192 games at Hutchinson (Kan.) and 110 as a high-school coach in Kansas.
St. Gregory's has posted a 6-32 record under Kelly Archer, including a 1-28 performance in Archer's first season at St. Gregory's. Archer led Hillsdale Baptist to five national titles in the National Christian Collegiate Athletic Association prior to his arrival at St. Gregory's.
