BETHANY, Okla. – No. 25 Oklahoma City University dropped a 2-1 overtime decision to cross-town rival Southern Nazarene Tuesday night at Harmon Field.
The Stars (13-3-2, 6-2-1 Sooner Athletic Conference) finish the season in third place in the conference and will be the No. 3-seed in this week's SAC tournament.
OCU controlled the first half against SNU as each team took six shots in the half.
Peiman Pahlevan gave OCU the lead in the 25th minute with a goal to make the score 1-0 in favor of the Stars. The goal was Pahlevan's fifth of the season.
The Stars held a 1-0 lead until Thierry Gakire scored to tie game at 1-1 with just six minutes left in regulation, sending the game into overtime.
After Pahlevan missed wide on a good look to win the game in overtime, SNU came back with the game-winning goal off the foot of Ryan Allen in the 103rd minute.
The Stars outshot Southern Nazarene 17-16 for the game, but struggled with only four shots on goal.
Alex Gang led the Stars with five shots in the game, followed by Pahlevan and John Dill with four each.
Goalkeeper Andy Fitzpatrick recorded three saves for the game.
OCU will host the No.6-seed in the opening round of the SAC tournament on Friday.
