OKLAHOMA CITY – Sarah Leonard came through once again in the clutch to lead Oklahoma City University past Mid-America Christian 3-2 in double overtime.
Leonard, a senior from West Yorkshire, England, got free for the game-winning goal in the fourth minute of double overtime to give OCU (4-4, 1-1 SAC) its first win in conference.
The Stars pulled out to an early lead with a pair of goals from Malin Andersson.
Anderson put the Stars up 1-0 when she netted a free kick in the 31st minute. After Rachael O'Brien was fouled in the box in the 61st minute, Andersson scored on a penalty kick to make the score 2-0.
MACU fought back with late goals from Jocelyn Melhaff in the 69th minute and Julia Nimal in the 86th minute to send the game into overtime.
After a scoreless first overtime, Leonard scored the game winner in the 104th minute. The goal was Leonard's eighth goal and third game-winning goal of the season.
OCU owned a 13-8 advantage in shots and a 9-2 lead in shots on goal.
The Stars will host John Brown (Ark.) at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Stars Field.
