Stars shut out Oklahoma Baptist 3-0

Alex Gang scored twice on Tuesday against Oklahoma Baptist.

SHAWNEE, Okla. – Oklahoma City University used a strong first-half performance to pick up a 3-0 victory over Oklahoma Baptist at the OBU Soccer Complex on Tuesday afternoon.
Alex Gang led the Stars (13-2-1, 6-1 Sooner Athletic Conference) with two goals on the day. Gang, a junior from Seoul, South Korea, leads the team with 17 goals on the season and ranks in the top 10 nationally.
Gang put OCU on the board with a goal in the fourth minute to make the score 1-0. Peiman Pahlevan picked up the assist.
Gang gave the Stars a 2-0 lead when he scored off a nice dish from Luke Garvey in the 30th minute.
The Stars added another goal in the 32nd minute when Chris Spendlove headed in a corner kick from John Dill for a 3-0 lead at the half.
OCU outshot Oklahoma Baptist 14-8 for the game, including a 9-4 edge in shots on goal.
Andy Fitzpatrick recorded four saves in goal for OCU and helped the Stars to their seventh shutout of the season.
The Stars will host first-place USAO at 7 p.m. on Friday for senior day at Stars Field.
