SHAWNEE, Okla. – Five players scored for Oklahoma City University in a 5-0 victory over St. Gregory's on Thursday in women's soccer.
The Stars (8-4-1, 5-1-1 Sooner Athletic Conference) allowed SGU only two shots for the match in a dominating defensive performance. OCU has now gone five straight matches without allowing a goal.
The Stars went up 1-0 in the 11th minute when Malin Andersson scored her seventh goal of the season.
OCU added to the lead in the 23rd minute with a goal from Meredith Glover to make the score 2-0. Sarah Leonard picked up the assist on the play.
The Stars outshout St. Gregory's 9-2 in the first half for a 2-0 lead at the break.
OCU used two goals in a 20-second span to put the game away early in the second half.
Brittany Pressley scored at 60:02 to put the Stars up 3-0 on an assist from Alex Miley.
Leonard added her team-leading 15th goal of the season at 60:20 to give OCU a comfortable 4-0 lead. Leonard, a senior from West Yorkshire, England, ranks in the top 10 nationally in goals scored with 15.
Sarah Burnett added a goal in the 78th minute to make the score 5-0. Josefine Holmgren was credited for the assist.
OCU owned a 16-2 shots advantage for the game. The Stars also took 11 shots on goal to zero for St. Gregory's.
The Stars will travel to Oklahoma Baptist on Tuesday afternoon at 1 p.m.
