OCU women knock off Wayland Baptist 8-0

Malin Andersson scored a goal and dished out two assists on Monday.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Sarah Leonard recorded her third hat trick of the season to propel Oklahoma City University past Wayland Baptist (Texas) 8-0 on Monday at Stars Field.

Leonard, a senior from West Yorkshire, England, scored the first three goals in the first half to give the Stars (7-4-1, 4-1-1 SAC) the early advantage.

Leonard scored her first goal in the 23rd minute on an assist from Alex Miley to make the score 1-0.

OCU went up 2-0 three minutes later when Leonard scored on a dish from Sarah Burnett.

Leonard made it 3-0 in the 39th minute when she took a pass from Malin Andersson for the goal. The goal was her team-leading 14th on the season.

Lauren Kolker gave OCU a 4-0 lead at halftime when she scored in the 42nd minute. Andersson picked up her second assist of the game on the play.

OCU owned a 13-1 shot advantage in the first half.

Brittany Pressley scored twice in the second half for her first two scores of the season, while Andersson and Burnett each added goals for the final margin of victory.

The Stars outshot Wayland 21-7 for the game, including a 14-3 lead in shots on goal.

Goalkeeper Brittany Tibbs had three saves in the game to help OCU to its fourth straight shutout.

The Stars will return to action Wednesday at East Central beginning at 2 p.m.
