OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University will offer a live video stream of its soccer matches against Wayland Baptist (Texas) on Monday on its athletics web site for the first Stars soccer broadcasts ever.
OCU meets Sooner Athletic Conference foe Wayland Baptist in a women's match at 2 p.m., then the men play 4 p.m. Monday at Stars Field. OCU's home soccer matches against USAO on Oct. 30 will also be broadcast on OCUsports.com.
For $6.95, viewers can see both the men's and women's matches. To sign up for the video, click here.
The broadcast has been made possible since the completion of construction on the Jim Wade soccer press box, which includes public concessions and restrooms.
Future soccer facility projects on the drawing board include dugouts, installation of a new scoreboard and new locker rooms.
“It will add value to the soccer field,” OCU coach Brian Harvey said of the press box. “It will provide us with several advantages. It will provide us with a profit base. Our alumni and parents will be able to view our games over the Internet.”
OCU's men had won 10 consecutive matches and risen to No. 12 in the NAIA rankings until suffering a 2-1 defeat to Oklahoma Christian on Saturday. The Stars are 11-2-1, 4-1 in the SAC.
On the women's side, the Stars are 6-4-1, 3-1-1 in conference play.
