SHAWNEE, Okla. – No. 12 Oklahoma City University recorded its 10th straight victory on Tuesday afternoon with a 4-1 decision over St. Gregory's.
The Stars (11-1-1, 4-0 SAC) scored all four goals in a 13-minute span to turn a 1-0 deficit into a 4-1 lead.
OCU trailed for most of the first half after William Hittle scored in the 18th minute to give St. Gregory's a 1-0 lead. The goal was the first given up by the OCU defense in Sooner Athletic Conference play. The Stars had gone over four games without allowing a goal.
OCU got on the board when Ryan Hunter scored with under a minute left on the clock in the first half to tie the game at one each.
Jason Gidney added a goal as time expired in the first half to give the Stars a 2-1 lead at the break.
OCU outshot SGU 12-3 in the first half.
The Stars added to the lead in the 56th minute when Chris Spendlove scored on an assist from Steven Short to make the score 3-1. Short, a sophomore from Durbin, South Africa, leads the NAIA with 12 assists on the season.
Stuart Hilton scored in the 58th minute put the game away with a 4-1 advantage.
OCU outshot St. Gregory's 22-7 to for the game, including an 11-3 advantage in shots on goal. Luke Garvey led the Stars with six shot attempt.
OCU will host Oklahoma Christian Saturday night at 8 p.m. at Stars Field.
The OCU-St. Gregory's women's game was postponed due to the wet conditions. The game has been rescheduled for Oct. 22 at 1 p.m. in Shawnee, Okla.
